Expeditions for Orcas

Book an expedition during the month of December and we’ll adopt a southern resident killer whale on your behalf.

With Christmas just around the corner, we’ve decided to give the gift of giving back to the orcas of the Salish Sea. With each booking in December, we’ll symbolically adopt a southern resident killer whale on your behalf from the Whale Museum. We are very fortunate to view orcas in each region we explore, and we’d like to keep it that way for generations to come. Each adoption supports ongoing education and research for this endangered whale community.

The southern resident (or salmon-eating) killer whales need our help. This declining population of the Salish Sea has only 76 remaining whales and is considered one of the most endangered species on earth. This community is broken up into 3 pods, J, K, and L, each with an alpha-numeric name as well as a common name. Off the coast of Vancouver Island is one of the best places in the world to go whale watching and view these magnificent creatures in the wild. Get to know these whales, because the more you know the more you will want to protect them.

Each adopted orca will include a personal biography of the southern resident orca member with an adoption certificate, genealogy chart, stickers, and a 16-page booklet on the Southern Resident killer whale community.
